Harris Honored With First Player of the Week Award of the Season

FRISCO, Texas – Stephen F. Austin’s Kevon Harris is the season’s first Southland Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Southland Conference Players of the Week are presented by UniversalCoin.com.
 
Harris led the Lumberjacks (1-0) to a season opening 74-61 victory at Longwood on Saturday. SFA hosts St. Edward’s and LeTourneau on back-to-back nights, Wednesday and Thursday. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m. CT on ESPN3.

Sophomore Kevon Harris had a career day to lead Stephen F. Austin to its first season-opening victory since the 2014-15 season. It also marks the first season opening win in the Kyle Keller coaching era. Harris pumped in a career-high 23 points against Longwood and pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds to finish his second double-double as a Lumberjack. Harris’ 11 free throws made and 14 attempted were also career highs.
