Chadwick, Springer Earn Women’s Track and Field Weekly Honors

FRISCO, Texas Central Arkansas’ Jordan Chadwick and Nicholls’ Jaimee Springer were named the Southland Conference Women’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
 
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week – Jordan Chadwick, Central Arkansas
Chadwick opened the outdoor season with a school-record time of 2 minutes, 14.77 seconds in the 800 meters at the Rhodes Open in Memphis, Tennessee. The senior from Bryant, Ark. (Bryant H.S.), also helped the Bears win the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:54.46.
 
Honorable Mention: Regina Salinas, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi; Daniela Anane-Bediakoh, UIW.
 
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week – Jaimee Springer, Nicholls
Springer won the javelin throw for the second consecutive year at the McNeese Cowboys Relays. The senior from Alberta, Canada (Lloydminster Comprehensive School), mark of 145 feet, 1.25 inches was nearly 17 feet better than the runner-up’s and currently has her ranked second in the Southland.
 
Honorable Mention: Myah Antwi, UIW, Anna Kirk, Central Arkansas.
 
Each school’s sports information director nominates and votes for the athletes of the week, though is not permitted to vote for his or her own student-athlete. To receive honorable mention, an athlete must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland sports information directors.
