Schnars, Allen Named Volleyball Players of the Week

FRISCO, Texas – Central Arkansas senior outside hitter Heather Schnars was named Southland Conference Women’s Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week while Stephen F. Austin senior middle blocker Jacque Allen was named Defensive Player of the Week presented by UniversalCoin.com, the league announced Monday.
Offensive Player of the Week – Heather Schnars, Central Arkansas
Schnars led a Central Arkansas attack that helped the Sugar Bears push their win streak to seven matches. She collected the match-high in all three of the Sugar Bears’ matches, while hitting at over .350 in two of UCA’s three matches. The Downey, California (Downey HS), native tallied nine kills and a service ace against Houston Baptist on Tuesday before exploding for a season-high 24 kills with an ace against New Orleans on Thursday. On Saturday against Southeastern Louisiana, Schnars picked up 12 kills and five aces.

Defensive Player of the Week – Jacque Allen, Stephen F. Austin
Allen moved into second place on SFA’s career solo blocks chart after compiling five solo blocks in three matches. She has 78 solo blocks and also sits in ninth place both blocks assists (308) and total blocks (384) on the Ladyjacks’ all-time charts. In a sweep over Prairie View A&M on Tuesday night, the Mansfield, Texas (Summit HS), native slammed down 12 kills on 14 swings while committing zero errors for an attack percentage of .857 in the match. That stands as the third-best single-match mark in the SFA program history.
