Bor, Hackett Named Cross Country Athletes of the Week

FRISCO, Texas – McNeese State senior Enock Bor was named Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week while Abilene Christian junior Alexandria Hackett was named Women’s Cross Country Athletes of the week presented by UniversalCoin.com, the league announced Tuesday.
 
Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week – Enock Bor, McNeese State
Bor placed first overall at the ASICS Cowboy Stampede with a time of 20:22.70. The Eldoret, Kenya (St. Patrick’s HS), native led the Cowboys to their first win of the year and second top-three finish. This is his second top-20 individual performance in three meets.
 
Honorable Mention: Chris Speaks, Sam Houston State.
 
Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week – Alexandria Hackett, Abilene Christian
Hackett finished fourth in the individual standings, covering the 5,000-meter course in 16:36.22. The Cranston, Rhode Island (West Cranston HS), native got into trouble early in the race when she was tripped up 200 meters into the race and fell flat on the ground. She got up, however, and still ran to a fourth-place finish in a race with 436 runners. This is her second consecutive week to earn Athlete of the Week honors.

Each school’s sports information director nominates and votes for the players of the week, though is not permitted to vote for his or her own player. To receive honorable mention, a player must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland sports information directors.
