Schnars, Klepetka Named Volleyball Players of the Week

FRISCO, Texas – Central Arkansas senior outside hitter Heather Schnars was named Southland Conference Women’s Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week while Texas A&M-Corpus Christi sophomore libero Kate Klepetka was named Defensive Player of the Week presented by UniversalCoin.com, the league announced Monday.
Offensive Player of the Week – Heather Schnars, Central Arkansas
Schnars had a huge week as Central Arkansas clenched the second seed in the upcoming Southland Conference Tournament, leading the Sugar Bears in kills, kills per set, service aces, and attack percentage while collecting a pair of double-doubles. The Downey, Calif. (Downey HS), native also led Central Arkansas in digs on the week. Against Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday, Schnars tallied a match-high 17 kills and added 17 digs, before she exploded on Saturday against New Orleans, turning in 18 kills on a .708 hitting percentage while also gathering 11 digs, four service aces, and a pair of blocks. Her .708 attack percentage is the 10th-highest in a single match in school history.

Defensive Player of the Week – Kate Klepetka, A&M-Corpus Christi
Once again entering the week second in the nation in digs per set, Klepetka only improved upon her record breaking average by turning nearly seven digs per set. The Allen, Texas (Allen HS), native tied her career high with 36 digs at Sam Houston before a 24-dig match at Lamar. Klepetka broke the school record for single season digs with 634 on the year, despite playing just 104 sets, 25 less than the previous record holder.
