Schnars, Klepetka Named Volleyball Players of the Week

FRISCO, Texas – Central Arkansas senior outside hitter Heather Schnars was named Southland Conference Women’s Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week while Texas A&M-Corpus Christi sophomore libero Kate Klepetka was named Defensive Player of the Week presented by UniversalCoin.com, the league announced Monday.
                                 
Offensive Player of the Week – Heather Schnars, Central Arkansas
Schnars had a big week as the Sugar Bears picked up a pair of sweeps. The senior tallied the match-high in kills in both matches. The Downey, Calif. (Downey HS), native hit .440 with 13 kills and a service ace against Northwestern State before hitting .441 with 17 kills and a pair of service aces against Stephen F. Austin. This is her fourth time to win this award for the 2015 season.

Defensive Player of the Week – Kate Klepetka, A&M-Corpus Christi
Klepetka’s domination along the back line continued this week as the libero averaged over six digs per set for a third consecutive week. Sitting second in the nation in digs per set coming into the week, The Allen, Texas (Allen HS), native improved on her average with a 23 dig performance in three sets against Sam Houston. She has now produced at least 20 digs in five of the Islanders last six matches. This is her fourth time to receive this award for the 2015 season.

Each school’s sports information director nominates and votes for the players of the week, though is not permitted to vote for his or her own player. To receive honorable mention, a player must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland sports information directors.
