Walker, Reimer Named Volleyball Players of the Week

FRISCO, Texas – Stephen F. Austin junior middle blocker Justice Walker was named Southland Conference Women’s Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week while New Orleans freshman libero Shaylene Reimer was named Defensive Player of the Week presented by UniversalCoin.com, the league announced Monday.
Offensive Player of the Week – Justice Walker, Stephen F. Austin
Exactly one-third of the Ladyjacks’ 100 kills came off the hands of Justice Walker during a 2-0 week. On Thursday night against Lamar, the Ft. Worth, Texas (Arlington Lamar HS), native subdued the Cardinals by submitting a career-best 21 terminations on an attack percentage of .559. Walker rose from eighth to sixth in the conference in terms of hitting percentage. Her season mark now stands at .318. Walker totaled six block assists and became the first SFA player in 2015 to eclipse the 300-kill mark upon the week’s end.

Defensive Player of the Week – Shaylene Reimer, New Orleans
Shaylene Reimer has been racking up the digs, and this week was no exception. The Surrey, Canada (Pacific Academy), native started with a 21-dig performance at Southeastern Louisiana. In the home win over Lamar, Reimer had 20 digs including nine in the second set alone. Reimer also tied a team-high with five service aces for the week. On the year, Reimer has 0.41 service aces per set, third most in the conference. Over the last seven matches, Reimer has 114 digs (4.96 per set).
