FRISCO, Texas – Abilene Christian sophomore guard Suzzy Dimba has been named Southland Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Dimba tied her single-game career high of 23 points in ACU’s road win Saturday at Southeastern Louisiana on 7-of-13 shooting, which included three treys and six free throws. Her 15 rebounds against the Lady Lions were one shy of her career high, but gave her a 10th double-double on the season. Her five steals also tied a career high, while her four blocks were one short of a personal best. Dimba has reached double-figures in scoring in nine-consecutive games.
Honorable mention this week goes to New Orleans freshman guard Randi Brown, Stephen F. Austin senior center Porsha Roberts and Nicholls senior guard Jenny Nash. To receive honorable mention, a player must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland women’s basketball sports information directors.
Each school’s sports information director nominates and votes for the players of the week, though is not permitted to vote for his or her own player.
