Schnars, Johnson Named Volleyball Players of the Week

FRISCO, Texas – Central Arkansas senior outside hitter Heather Schnars was named Southland Conference Women’s Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week while Northwestern State senior middle blocker Glynna Johnson was named Defensive Player of the Week presented by UniversalCoin.com, the league announced Monday.
Offensive Player of the Week – Heather Schnars, Central Arkansas
Schnars continued to fuel the Central Arkansas attack as she earned match-highs in both of the Sugar Bears’ matches this week. Against Abilene Christian, the Downey, Calif. (Downey HS), native hit .364 with 22 kills and a service ace, before hitting .483 with 19 kills and two aces against Incarnate Word.

Defensive Player of the Week – Glynna Johnson, Northwestern State
Johnson stepped up this weekend and led Northwestern State to their best defensive performance of the season as they held the Nicholls to a .141 hitting percentage in a 3-0 sweep. The Gatesville, Texas (Gatesville HS), native had three blocks this week and now holds fourth place in school history for total block solos (74); two of which came against McNeese, her highest total this season for a three-match set.
