Galbreath Named Southland Player of the Week Again

2016 Southland Men's Basketball Week Seven Release (PDF)

FRISCO, Texas
- Sam Houston State University forward Chris Galbreath Jr. is the Southland Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, presented by UniversalCoin.com. The Conference made the announcement Monday afternoon.

Galbreath also won the award last week, marking the first time this season that there has been a repeat winner.

The junior from Chicago averaged just 19 minutes per game, yet averaged a double-double in a pair of Sam Houston wins.

Galbreath shot 54.5 percent from the floor for the week and started things off with a 12-point, 9-rebound outing in a win over Sul Ross in 17 minutes last Tuesday. The forward then went for 16 points and a season-best 13 rebounds in 21 minutes of a 76-70 win over North Texas on Saturday.

He came up huge against the Mean Green with 12 points and 10 rebounds in the second half alone, helping the Kats to their fifth win in their last six outings.

Each school's sports information director nominates and votes for the players of the week, and is not permitted to vote for his or her own student-athlete. To receive honorable mention, a player must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland sports information directors.
