Williams and Lemke Earn Men’s Track and Field Weekly Awards

FRISCO, Texas – UIW sophomore Jamarkese Williams was named the Southland Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, while McNeese State junior John Lemke earned Southland Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honors, the league announced Wednesday.
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week – Jamarkese Williams, UIW
Williams performed well on and off the track at the Islander Opener. He won the 200 meters in 21.39 and the high jump with a clearance of 6-7.5. The Temple, Texas (Temple H.S.), native ran the opening leg on the 4x100 team that finished in second place. He is currently ranked second in the 200 and 4x100 in the conference and third in the high jump.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week – John Lemke, McNeese State
The junior leaper finished first in the triple jump and second in the long jump at the Cowboy Relays. The Lake Charles, La. (Barbe H.S.), native’s triple jump mark set a new personal record and is currently ranked No. 1 in the Southland and NCAA East Region while his long jump is No. 1 in the conference and No. 6 in the region.
