Demas, Frazier Earn Women’s Track and Field Weekly Awards

FRISCO, Texas – Sam Houston State senior Danielle Demas was named the Southland Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, while Southeastern Louisiana senior Jermisha Frazier earned the Southland Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors presented by UniversalCoin.com, the league announced Wednesday.
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week – Danielle Demas, Sam Houston State
Demas recorded four top-two finishes over the weekend, splitting time at the famed Mt. SAC Relays and Beach Invitational. The Houston, Texas (Cy-Creek H.S.), native took the top spot in the Southland with a 13.15 mark in the 100-meter hurdles. She was also part of a pair of first-place collegiate finishes, doing so in the 100-meter hurdles and 4x100-meter relay at the Mt. SAC Relays.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week – Jermisha Frazier, Southeastern Louisiana
Frazier broke the Southeastern Lion Invitational meet record with a winning throw of 196 feet, 6 inches on Friday. She came back on Saturday and was the top collegian in the shot put, placing second overall with a throw of 47-01.75. Frazier later placed fourth in the discus with a mark of 144-05.
