FRISCO, Texas – Stephen F. Austin junior outside hitter Abby McIntyre was named Southland Conference Women’s Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week while Central Arkansas junior middle blocker Megan Nash was named Defensive Player of the Week, presented by UniversalCoin.com, the league announced Monday.
 
Offensive Player of the Week – Abby McIntyre, Stephen F. Austin
In SFA’s league opener against UIW, the junior posted 11 kills and hit .429 and improved the following night against North Texas, with 13 kills along with a .522 attack percentage. McIntyre led the squad in kills and kills per set and was named to the Holiday Inn Express SFA Volleyball Invitational All-Tournament Team in the Ladyjacks’ sweep of the three-match competition. SFA currently sits atop the Southland Conference standings with an 8-5 overall record.

Defensive Player of the Week – Megan Nash, Central Arkansas
Nash had a huge week at the net for the Sugar Bears, collecting 17 blocks in 11 sets to lead the UCA defense. After starting the weekend with a single block against Central Michigan, Nash increasing her total to four against UCF on Friday night. Against UNC-Asheville on Saturday, Nash collected a career-high 12 blocks, four solo and eight assists. That number is good for sixth-most in school history. Central Arkansas leads the league in blocks with 114 total and averaging 2.29 blocks per set.

Each school’s sports information director nominates and votes for the players of the week, though is not permitted to vote for his or her own player. To receive honorable mention, a player must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland sports information directors.
