FRISCO, Texas – Central Arkansas seniors Alex Moore and Anna Hughes, and Lamar senior Marie Lund are the Southland Conference Soccer Players of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. Southland Players of the Week are presented by

Moore was named the Offensive Player of the Week and Hughes earned goalkeeper honors. Lund earned her second Defensive Player of the Week award, having garnered the same distinction on Sept. 5.
The final match day of 2017 takes place Friday with all 12 league teams concluding their regular seasons before the
Southland Conference Soccer Tournament in Corpus Christi, Texas, from Nov. 1-5.
Central Arkansas (10-8, 7-3 SLC) faces Northwestern State (5-12, 1-9 SLC) on the road while Lamar (14-3-1, 9-1 SLC) hosts McNeese (12-4-1, 8-2 SLC) with the regular season title on the line. A win or a tie for Lamar will secure a solo championship for the Cardinals while a win for McNeese will award co-regular season titles to both teams. Both matchups kick off at 7 p.m.
Offensive Player of the Week: Alex Moore, Central Arkansas – Sr. – Midfielder – Yukon, Okla.
Moore was a key piece of the Central Arkansas attack on the week, tallying a team-high three points as the Bears pushed their conference winning streak to three games. She scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 54th minute of Friday’s 2-0 win at Nicholls, gathering a pass from Ashley Smith and slotting it home to the bottom-right corner. Moore had the assist on Sunday’s lone goal, collecting a rebound and slipping a pass to Anika Sultan, who scored the game-winner at Southeastern Louisiana.

Defensive Player of the Week: Marie Lund, Lamar – Sr. – Defender – Bergen, Norway
Lund earned her second weekly defensive award of the season, anchoring a defense that posted back-to-back shutouts at Houston Baptist and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. She also moved up from the back line to score two goals off of corner kicks from Lucy Ashworth in LU’s 3-0 win over the Islanders.

Goalkeeper of the Week: Anna Hughes, Central Arkansas – Sr. – Goalkeeper – League City, Texas
Hughes was masterful in goal for the Bears on the weekend, making 10 saves through two games to earn her second and third shutouts of the season. The senior made three saves on Friday against Nicholls, before making seven more in UCA’s 1-0 win at Southeastern Louisiana. Since taking over the goalkeeper role due to an injury in week nine, Hughes has yet to allow a goal in 249:31, posting a pair of clean sheets in that time.
