CONWAY, Ark. - Each team garnered just four hits on the game, but No. 2 Nicholls was able to pull off the victory 2-1 over No. 3 Lamar on Wednesday at Farris Field in Conway, Ark.

The Cardinals went into the top of the seventh needing two runs. The Colonels' starting pitcher Megan Landry had only given up two hits heading into the frame, but Lamar's leadoff hitter Kelly Meeuwsen doubled to left center before designated player Shelby Henderson drove her home with a single up the middle to make it 2-1 Nicholls.

Landry induced the pop out to second base and got the Cardinals' shortstop Shelby Hughston to ground out to third. The Colonels will now wait for the winner between No. 1 McNeese and No. 4 Sam Houston State. The winners' game is set for 3 p.m. Thursday.

The game was scoreless heading into the bottom of the fifth. With one out, catcher Veronica Villafranco singled to right field and an error by right fielder Elizabeth Castillo advanced Villafranco to second before ending the play at third. Haley Stevenson came in to pinch run for Villafranco and got on the board with a single to center field from the bat of Gretchen Morgan. The Colonels tacked on one more run by the end of the inning with a RBI double from third baseman Syndey Bourg.

Ciara Luna of Lamar pitched all six innings for the Cardinals, struck out seven and did not give up an earned run.

Lamar will face Central Arkansas on Thursday at 10 a.m.
