Austin’s Hunter Key leads the men’s decathlon with 3,622 points after the 100m, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400m. Baylee Lara of Sam Houston State holds top spot in the women’s heptathlon with 3,064 points after concluding the 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200m.

The 10,000m races got competition back underway after dark, with Olivia Olguin squeezing a victory out at the line over McNeese’s Katja Woelfl, who had led for the majority. Lamar’s Evelyn Chavez took third place.
McNeese’s distance standout Nathan Jones took a comfortable victory in the men’s 10K, crossing the line in 31:02.09, almost 30 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Chris Speaks of Sam Houston State (31:27.54). Fellow Bearkat Alex Hernandez took bronze with a time of 31:49.88.
