FRISCO, Texas – Southeastern Louisiana swept the final weekly awards for outdoor track and field with senior Alex Young and freshman Ashley Davis earning this week’s honors. Southland Conference Athletes of the Week are presented by

This marks Young’s third weekly outdoor honor of the 2017 season, and Southeastern Louisiana men’s fourth as a team.
Men’s Athlete of the Week – Alex Young, Southeastern Louisiana
Young threw 234-09.50 to break the Ole Miss Track & Field Complex hammer throw record by 4.5 feet on Saturday. It was also the second-longest throw in Southeastern history, eclipsed only by Young’s throw of 235-05.00 at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays earlier this season. Young also threw 234-07.00 on his first attempt of the day. Both throws rank second in the Southland Conference in 2017.

Women’s Athlete of the Week – Ashley Davis, Southeastern Louisiana
Davis threw 53-07.00 in taking third in the shot put at the Ole Miss Classic on Saturday, breaking the school record of 51-07.75 she set at the Texas Relays earlier this season. She also increased her lead in the conference by more than six feet, moving into 17
th place in the East region and 32
nd nationally. She finished behind just Jeneva Stevens of New York Athletic Club and Ole Miss’ Janeah Stewart, the fifth-ranked shot-putter in the country.
