2017 Southland Soccer Week Seven Notes (PDF)

FRISCO, Texas
– Following a 2-0 weekend in conference play, Houston Baptist soccer swept all three weekly awards, the conference announced Tuesday. Southland Players of the Week are presented by UniversalCoin.com.
 
Senior forward/midfielder Ellee Hall was voted Offensive Player of the Week, freshman defender Megan Rickert earned Defensive Player of the Week honors and junior Alanis Guevara was named Goalkeeper of the Week.
 
The Huskies (3-4-1, 2-1 SLC) begin a three-game homestand Friday, hosting Nicholls (4-6, 1-2 SLC) at 7 p.m. and Southeastern Louisiana (3-6-1, 1-2 SLC) on Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
Offensive Player of the Week: Ellee Hall, Houston Baptist – Forward/Midfielder – Sr. – Uintah, Utah
Hall scored both game-winners for the Huskies as they went 2-0 on the road for the weekend. She scored the game-winning penalty kick for a 1-0 win at Stephen F. Austin. Now tied for the league lead with five goals and three game-winners, Hall reached 20 career goals with her score at Sam Houston State on Sunday.
                              
Honorable Mention: Savannah LaRicci, McNeese; Lucy Ashworth, Lamar; Christina Arteaga, Abilene Christian; Sam Batley, UIW.
 
Defensive Player of the Week: Megan Rickert, Houston Baptist – Defender – Fr. – Round Rock, Texas
Rickert was a shut-down defender for the Huskies as they picked up a pair of Southland shutouts on the road, playing every minute of both matches. In the win over SFA, Rickert was the creator on the play that drew a penalty in the box against the Ladyjacks and set up the Huskies’ game-winning penalty kick.
 
Honorable Mention: Nikki Schaaf, McNeese; Jessica Hernandez, Sam Houston State; Carli Arthurs, Stephen F. Austin.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week: Alanis Guevara, Houston Baptist – Goalkeeper – Jr. – Cedar Park, Texas
Guevara, now eighth in the nation with 8.00 saves per game, stonewalled Stephen F. Austin and Sam Houston State on the road for a pair of shutouts, making nine saves in both wins. She tops the conference with 29 saves made and a .935 save percentage through three league contests.
 
Honorable Mention: Emma Roccaforte, McNeese; Michaela Hawthorn, Southeastern Louisiana; Anna Kaiser, Sam Houston State.
