Lewis-Graham, Daigle Honored With Cross Country Weekly Awards

FRISCO, Texas - Northwestern State's Brandon Lewis-Graham and Southeastern Louisiana's Sophie Daigle are the Southland Conference Cross Country Athletes of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. All weekly awards are presented by MidSouth Bank.
Men's Athlete of the Week: Brandon Lewis-Graham, Northwestern State - Sr. - Ruston, La.
Running in his hometown and at his former school, Lewis-Graham claimed victory in the four-mile run with a time of 20:28.5 at the Louisiana Tech Mook Duals in Ruston, La. The first-place finish paced a NSU squad that finished second overall. The Demons have this week off before heading to Lake Charles for the McNeese Cowboys Stampede on Sept. 29
Honorable Mention: Grant O'Callaghan, Southeastern Louisiana; Kevin Kipkosgei, Abilene Christian; Daniel Saina, McNeese.
Women's Athlete of the Week: Sophie Daigle, Southeastern Louisiana - So. - Donaldsonville, La.
Daigle finished second among a 57-women field at the LSU Invitational in Baton Rouge, La. The sophomore from Donaldsonville, La., ran the three-mile meet with a time of 18:13.29 to a pace a Southeastern team that finished second. The top-10 placement is her second in as many races after finishing seventh at the McNeese Invitational. SLU is back at it Saturday in College Station at the Texas A&M Invitational.

Southland weekly award winners are nominated and voted upon by each school's sports information director. Voting for one's own athletes is not permitted. To earn honorable mention, a student-athlete must appear on 25 percent of ballots.
