Former Lamar Golfer Stroud Secures PGA Tour Card
BEAUMONT - Former Lamar University golfer Chris Stroud closed out the 2010 PGA season with his fourth top 10 finish of the year to lock up his tour card for next season by finishing in the top 125 on the season's money list.
Stroud, a Port Neches-Groves product, was named Southland Conference Player of the Year four times from 2001-04. A two-time All-America during his playing days at Lamar, Stroud helped the Cardinals to three SLC titles and tied for third at the 2003 NCAA Championships.
Stroud played in 27 PGA events this year, making the cut in 17. He opened the final tournament of the 2010 season, the Children's Miracle Network Classic, with a career-best 62 en route to a tie for seventh. The $151,575 earned at the tournament locked up Stroud's card.
For the year, Stroud finished 102nd on the money list with $942,082 earned. His largest payday as a professional came at The Players Championship where he tied for 10th to earn $237,500. Stroud also picked up top 10 finishes at the Greenbrier Classic and the Viking Classic.
With the finish, Stroud earns full exemption on the PGA Tour for the 2011 season. Stroud has now played four full seasons on the PGA Tour with over $2.8 million in career earnings.
